God is Faithful - Devotional

Some of us have been blessed to be supported by loyal, steadfast and trustworthy people. If you have someone you can trust and depend on, thank God for them. If you know someone who will show up for you no matter what, let them know you appreciate them. Do you know someone who will always try to act in your best interest even if you might not see or appreciate it at the time? Pray to do the same for them.

It is important to remember that even with the best intentions human beings can make the wrong choices, say the wrong things or let us down. The most loyal among us can also be selfish by choosing their interests over others. The most committed are limited in knowledge and ability. While it may be comforting to know they would solve your problem if they could, the impact of their faithfulness is limited by a lack of resources, power, influence or know-how.

God is not so limited. His faithfulness makes Him completely trustworthy and gives us hope. No matter how dark or desperate things get, God will never abandon us. He also has the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to direct us perfectly. He is more than powerful enough to make His good plan for our lives happen.

We can choose to trust Him and let that lead us to peace, or to doubt Him and try to work things out with our human limitations. God may not always do what we want when or how we want, but God always acts for our good. God does what is best for us and will never change His mind about that!

Consider the implications of God's faithfulness as you reflect on or Write the Scriptures below:

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

If we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. Psalm 33:4

“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. Deuteronomy 32:4

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
