2025 is A Time to Build

In 2025, draw on and gather together the knowledge, experiences, understanding, insights, dreams, visions and key relationships you have and combine them to produce something tangible for God's kingdom.

Word for 2025 - Build

Build by developing what you have so that it grows into something more. What you build, God will establish.

Do not focus on digging down. Trust God that the foundation is already laid. You are ready. Now is the time to start building something visible and above ground level. Build up, build out.

Build to extend. As you build, God will increase your capacity, influence and impact.

When people see what you are building, they will see Me, says the Lord. Because what I have prepared for you to build will reflect My glory.

Build with Me.

Build for Me.

Build through Me.

This phase of building will teach you and draw out of you a strategy for future building. Through action, you will discover a blueprint to successful and sustainable expansion, development, and productivity. Look only to Me for your strategy. The foundation you are building on is TRUST. You may build in community, because this is not a season of isolation, but you may not be building the in the same way as your neighbour.

Do not focus on what you do or do not have. As you build for Me, I will build in you. You are My design and I know best what you can achieve and what you need to achieve it. I will provide. I will build and reveal deep strength, stability and steadfastness within you. I will build hope for perseverance. You will discover depth within you that you did not know was there.

Building Words

Psalm 19:14:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Words are so important. Acceptable words are those that are rooted in God's Word.

Many of us spent an increased amount of time in the Word of God in 2024. There are many benefits to this, but the draw to the Word was strategic. Here are some reasons why:

Words Can Build or Destroy

I believe God wants to fill us with His Words to give us a broader capacity to speak life. If we are filled with the Word of God, God's Word is more likely to come out of us instead of negativity, complaining, gossip, idle chatter, and other things that tear down rather than build up. It is important to remember that a house divided against itself will not stand (Matthew 12:25).

God created this realm with words (Hebrews 11:3), so our words have power to create. Deuteronomy 32:1 shows that the heavens and earth can hear our words. This suggests our words effect our environment. We must make sure we are not trying to build in one way while thwarting our efforts with our words.

There are different ways to sabotage with words. We need to do more than being careful not to speak words of unbelief or negativity about a situation. For example, on the importance of not using our words to make vows we cannot keep, Ecclesiastes 5:6 warns:

Let not your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands?

In Matthew 12:36-37, Jesus tells us we will give account for every "careless word" we speak. The practice of silence can help here as it can involve only speaking where necessary and taking care with the words we chose to utter.

The Word of God Gives us Wisdom

The Word of God gives us wisdom. See Psalm 119:98, Psalm 19:7, or 2 Timothy 3:15 for example. Wisdom builds (Proverbs 9:1). Without wisdom from the Word of God we cannot successfully build anything for Him.

Let's make Psalm 49:3 our prayer throughout 2025:

My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.

Build on the Word

If you do not feel you spent sufficient time in the Word of God this year, be sure to prioritise this right away. For those who read or listened to more of the Word in recent months, build on this in 2025 and always. Build on your knowledge and understanding of the Word and find different ways to engage with it.

Blessing in Action: A Word for 2025

Look up some definitions of the word build. Then, with pen and paper for making notes, ask God:

  • What do You want me to build in 2025?

  • What do You want me to build on in 2025?

  • How do You want me to build 2025?

Read and meditate on the following seven Scriptures. Writing them out is a great way to focus and reflect on their meaning:

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 57:14-15

And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.” For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Ecclesiastes 3:3

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.

Acts 20:32

And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

1 Corinthians 3:11

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

Keep your notes somewhere you can look back on them throughout 2025. Develop them or turn them into prayer points.
