As Christmas approaches, we are reminded of a story that began with an impossible announcement: a young woman named Mary, visited by an angel, was told she would bear the Son of God. Can you imagine?
Mary’s response, recorded in Luke 1:34, reveals her initial disbelief: “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” Her question mirrors the doubts we often feel when faced with challenges seemingly beyond our ability or comprehension. The angel’s reply carries a profound truth: “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).
The Christmas story is not only a tale of a miraculous birth; it’s a testament to God’s ability to work through ordinary people in extraordinary ways. Mary faced the challenge of believing God’s possibilities could redefine her reality. In her eventual submission—“I am the Lord’s servant...May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38)—we see a model of faith that embraces the impossible.
This season, as we reflect on the birth of Jesus, let us also consider the possibilities God places before us. Perhaps there’s a calling on your heart that feels too daunting, a relationship that seems beyond repair, or a hope you have long since buried. Christmas reminds us that with God, what seems impossible can become reality.
Embrace the Challenge of Possibility by:
Acknowledging Your Doubts: Like Mary, it’s okay to ask, “How can this be?” Faith doesn’t erase questions; it brings them to God.
Trusting God’s Power: Remember that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Taking the First Step: Mary didn’t know all the details, but she trusted God’s plan. This Christmas, take one step toward the possibility God is placing in your heart.
